Cultural experiment (Norwegian)

A friend and former radio colleague Siss Vik is entering the last day of her Cultural experiment on NRK P2s Radioselskapet. For ten days, she has been exposed to extreme high culture, followed by ten days of extreme low culture - in order to see if this will affect her IQ, personality and general health condition. Anticipating the results!

'networks'

A multidisciplinary seminar on social and digital networks today. Among other participants, Jill Walker talked about hypertext and networks as social spaces. She argued that we can imagine a scale between traditional hypertext, as envisioned by Bush, Nelson and others, and the form of collective, implicit hypertextuality we find in flickr and del.icio.us.

iPod culture etc.

Not directly relevant for my project, but sat in on a lecture titled From the Walkman to the iPod: Investigating the Culture of Mobile Listening by Dr Michael Bull, Sussex. Based on his book Sounding Out the City. Personal stereos and the management of everyday life, Bull talked about ipod and similar technologies as 'tools whereby users manage space, time and the boundaries around the self'. Touching upon issues like private vs. public space and/or time, and the desire to (re)gain a sense of control over urban space.
